The DPS Education Foundation Turkey Trot is scheduled for November 2026 in Danville, VA. The event is organized by the Danville Public Schools Education Foundation in partnership with the Danville Otterbots and the Danville Running & Fitness Club. The races start and finish at American Legion Field. The course runs along the Dan River on the Riverwalk Trail. Proceeds support programs, initiatives, and scholarships for Danville Public Schools students and teachers.
Registration, fees and race information
The event includes a Children's Fun Run and two 5K options: a 5K Run and a 5K Walk. Registration opens June 23, 2026. Entry fees listed in the event information are: Children's Fun Run (age 12 and under) free if an adult is registered for the 5K Run/Walk; 5K Run/Walk $35 to pre-register and $40 on race day; area students 17 and under $25 to pre-register and $30 on race day. Packet pick-up is available on race day. Race day registration accepts cash and check only, with checks payable to Danville Public Schools Education Foundation. Registrants who register by 11/14/25 are listed to receive a long-sleeve performance shirt; registrations after that date receive shirts as available. Trophies and medals will be awarded.
