Event Overview
The Turkey Trails - Grand Rapids is a Thanksgiving-themed running event held at Helder Park in Zeeland, Michigan. The course utilizes the park grounds and the area around the Jim Kaat Ball Park. This annual event provides a variety of distances to accommodate different levels of participants, including options for children and long-distance runners.
Participants in the timed events receive chip-timing with live results and awards. All registrants for the standard distances receive a designer shirt, a custom bib, and a finisher medal. To guarantee a shirt size, registration must be completed by midnight on the Thursday two weeks before the race date. Free photos are also provided to participants, and food treats are available at the finish line.
Distances and Formats
The event offers several participation options:
- Kids Dash (50m): An untimed event for children ages 10 and under.
- 1 Mile: An untimed run including a custom bib, shirt, and medal.
- 5K (3.1 miles): A chip-timed race with youth-based pricing for ages 12 and under.
- 10K (6.2 miles): A chip-timed race with youth-based pricing for ages 12 and under.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles): A long-distance road race including full event swag.
- Virtual Race: An option to complete the run at any location while still receiving the event swag.
A "Volunteer then Run" option is also available, where individuals assist with event logistics 30 minutes before packet pickup and then participate in their chosen race distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
