Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Baton Rouge, LA
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Baton Rouge is an event to honor Stephen Siller and those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and to support first responders and military personnel. The event is a 5K, equal to 3.1 miles, with distance markers placed at 0.5 mile, 1 mile, and 2 miles.
Packet pickup takes place at the Robert A. Bogan Fire Museum, 427 Laurel St., Baton Rouge, LA 70801. Someone else may pick up a participant packet if they present a copy of the registrant's receipt. Day of registration is offered, but late registrants may not receive a shirt and may not be timed.
Participants must display their bib on the front of their outermost garment; those without a bib will be asked to leave the course and will not be allowed to finish. Runners predicting paces faster than six minutes per mile will be seeded in the front corral. Awards emphasize firefighters, police, and military who run in gear in the tradition of Stephen Siller.
A water station will be available along the route and at the start and finish. Strollers, wheelchairs, firefighter turnout gear, and military backpacks are permitted. Roller blades, skateboards, and pets are not allowed unless a certified service dog with proper paperwork. Personal items are the owner’s responsibility; the foundation is not responsible for lost items.
Online and offline donations are accepted; donations may be accepted for up to six weeks after the event. Registration fees do not count toward fundraising goals. An emergency medical service team and radio communication will be available on site. Transfers of registration are permitted but refunds are not provided.
