Inaugural Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Barton
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Barton is a community event held at the Orleans County Fairgrounds Racetrack in Barton, Vermont. This event marks the inaugural edition in this location and commemorates 25 years since the events of September 11, 2001. The series is dedicated to the memory of firefighter Stephen Siller and honors first responders and military service members.
Participants can choose to run or walk the designated 5 km (3.1 miles) course. The event is open to all ages and categories, including:
- Adults
- First Responders & Military
- Youth (13-17 years)
- Children (12 & Under)
The course is timed, and water stations are located along the route as well as at the start and finish lines. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted on the course. In keeping with the event's history, participants are also permitted to wear firefighter turnout gear or military backpacks. Runners who can maintain a pace faster than 6 minutes per mile are encouraged to use the front corral.
Packet pickup is available at the Orleans County Fairgrounds Racetrack on the morning of the event starting at 6:30 am, or on the Friday prior at a time to be determined. Medical staff and radio communication services are present on-site to ensure participant safety.
