Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Jefferson City, MO
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Jefferson City is an event that honors a New York City firefighter who lost his life on September 11, 2001 and supports first responders and military personnel. The 2026 event marks the 11th local running of the series and commemorates 25 years since the 9/11 attacks.
The course begins and ends at the Missouri State Capitol south steps, near 201 W. Capitol Ave., Jefferson City, MO. The route is a 5K (3.1 miles) and is open to walkers and runners. Timing chips are not planned for 2026.
Packet pickup is offered the day before at Red Wheel Bike Shop, 400 W. Main Street, and on the morning of the event on the south lawn of the Capitol. Online registration remains open until the day of the event. Registration categories and fees include adult registration, first responders and military, youth ages 13 to 17, and children 12 and under.
Two water stations are available along the route and water is provided at the finish. An Emergency Medical Service team will be on site. Participants must display their bib on the front of their outermost garment to be allowed to finish. Strollers, wheelchairs, firefighter turnout gear, and military backpacks are permitted. Donations toward team and individual fundraising are accepted for six weeks after the event. Refunds are not provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
