Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Big Pine Key, FL
The Tunnel to Towers 5K is a community run and walk based at Big Pine Community Park, 31009 Atlantis Drive, Big Pine Key, FL. The event honors first responders and supports the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The course is a flat closed road route that passes through surrounding neighborhoods and returns to the park; a portion of the route is uneven.
The event distance is 5K. Registration categories and published fees include Adult, First Responders and Military, Youth (13 to 17 years), and Child (12 and under). Packet pickup is offered the evening before the race at Pop's BBQ (31251 Avenue A) between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on race day at Big Pine Community Park prior to the start. Day of registration is available at the venue for an additional fee for most registrants.
Water will be available along the route and at the start and finish. An Emergency Medical Service team will be on site and radio communication will be used on course. Parking is available at Big Pine Community Park with overflow on neighboring streets; participants are asked not to park in driveways or private property.
Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted; firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also permitted. Bibs must be displayed on the front of the outermost garment. Placement awards are given to top finishers, with emphasis on participants who run in gear as part of the event tradition. Registration fees do not count toward fundraising totals, donations are accepted after the event, and transfers are allowed by contacting the organizers. Refunds are not provided.
