Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Big Pine Key, FL
This event is the second annual Tunnel to Towers 5K in Big Pine Key. It honors first responders and remembers the events of September 11, 2001 while raising funds for Tunnel to Towers programs. The course is a flat, closed road route that starts near Big Pine Community Park, travels through surrounding neighborhoods, and finishes back in the park; a portion of the route is uneven.

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Big Pine Key Community Park. Bibs must be displayed on the front of the outermost garment; participants without a bib will be removed from the course and not allowed to finish. A water station will be available along the route and water will be provided at the start and finish. Emergency medical services and radio communication will be on site.
Registration fees vary by category with listed prices for adults, first responders and military, youth, and children. Day of registration is offered at the venue for an additional fee for most categories and late registrants may not receive guaranteed t shirt sizes. Placement awards are given to top finishers, with particular recognition for participants wearing firefighter or military gear.
Parking is available at Big Pine Community Park with overflow on neighboring streets. Strollers, wheelchairs, firefighter turnout gear, and military backpacks are permitted. Personal items are stored at the owner s risk. Donations are accepted after the event for a limited period and fundraising incentives are offered.
