Event Overview
The Sugarloaf School PTO Fins Up 5K Run/Walk & 1M Kids Fun Run is organized by the Sugarloaf School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The event supports the school's students and staff through the non-profit PTO.
Distances and Participants
The event features two distances:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed event open to participants of all ages. Awards are given for top overall, master, and age group finishers.
- 1M Kids Fun Run: A non-competitive run for children aged 1-11. All finishers receive a medal.
Course Details
Both races start and finish at Sugarloaf School Shark Park at the corner of Crane Blvd and US1 in Upper Sugarloaf Key. The 1M course consists of two laps on the school's track. The 5K course proceeds north on Crane Blvd to the National Key Deer Preserve Barrier before looping back. One aid station with water and electrolytes is on the 5K route. The course will be marked with cones, signs, and volunteers.
Registration and Fees
Registration is available online or via paper entry forms. Fees increase over time. Participants receive a T-shirt and sponsor giveaways, though shirts are only guaranteed for registrations completed by March 13.
Rules and Logistics
Parking is available in school lots and grass areas along Crane Blvd. Bib and packet pickup is available the day before the race and on race morning. The event allows strollers, but notes there are gravel areas and narrow sections on the course. Pets, bicycles, skates, scooters, and skateboards are not permitted.
