The race starts and finishes at Vienna City Park. All distances share the same start time. The course runs south to a turnaround at the Wetlands Center and north to a separate northern turnaround. Runners pass through a historic 600-foot tunnel. The 100-mile race consists of two 50-mile loops. The 100 km race follows the 50-mile course plus an additional southern out-and-back section. The marathon is an out-and-back to the southern turnaround. The course is sanctioned by USATF and holds IAU Golden Labels for the 100-mile and 50-mile events.
