Event overview
The Run for Heroes event takes place in Vienna, Illinois on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Vienna City Park / Tunnel Hill Trail (298 East Vine Street). The program includes the following races:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- FREE Kids Run
Entry fees listed on the event page are $25 for the 5K, $35 for the 10K, $60 for the half marathon, and $0 for the kids run. Age eligibility is specified for each event: 5K open to ages 5-99, 10K open to ages 10-99, half marathon open to ages 11-99, and the kids run open to ages 1-12. Awards are given for overall male and female finishers and by age groups (1-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-99). A finisher medal is provided to all half marathon finishers. Early packet pickup is available at the Forman Depot Museum.
Course and services
All race courses are out-and-back and start and finish on the Tunnel Hill Trail by the trail office. Turnaround points are noted: the 5K turns at about 1.55 miles, the 10K at about 3.12 miles, and the half marathon at about 6.55 miles. Support includes a SAG station with drinks and snacks and a SAG driver. Race timing for competitive runners is provided by To The Finish timing.
