Tulip Festival Road Race
The Tulip Festival Road Race is an annual event held in Orange City, Iowa, taking place on the third weekend of May. The 2026 edition features a scenic route through the downtown area, highlighting local landmarks and festival attractions. Participants follow a course that includes a stretch along tulip-lined Central Avenue, passing Northwestern College and the historic courthouse. The route showcases the area's Dutch architecture before concluding at Windmill Park next to the windmill.
There are two primary events available for participants:
- 5K Run / Walk
- 1 Mile Walk
Both events begin on Arizona Avenue near the park. The race utilizes chip timing with a gun start for accurate results. Participants receive a t-shirt and can find treats at the finish line. Recognition is provided through Dutch finisher awards, as well as awards for overall winners and specific age groups. The event coincides with the broader festival features of the city, providing a route that travels through the heart of the celebration.
