Trythan Triathlon Festival Knockburn
The Trythan Triathlon Festival takes place at Knockburn Loch near Banchory on 14 June 2026. The event is a multi-sport meeting with sprint, aquabike, team relay, Tristars and youth races. The Tristars and Youth programme includes the Triathlon Scotland National Youth Championships 2026.
This is an open water event and wetsuits are required. All entrants must be competent swimmers for their chosen swim distance. The event uses chip timing and results are managed by Eventfull Management Limited with live results on the day.
Age group prizes will be awarded across categories. National youth championship T shirts are available to purchase for the youth championships at £20 each. A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not members of a British Triathlon Home Nation; different Race Pass fees apply by age.
Distances and formats include:
- Sprint Triathlon: swim 750 m, cycle 17 km, run 5 km.
- Aquabike: swim 750 m, cycle 17 km.
- Team Relay: each discipline by a different team member, timing chip exchanged in transition.
- Tristarts Duathlon (8 years): run 0.40 km, cycle 1.4 km, run 0.20 km.
- Tristars 1 (9-10 years): 150 m swim, 4.0 km cycle, 1 km run.
- Tristars 2 (11-12 years): 250 m swim, 5.6 km cycle, 1.5 km run.
- Tristars 3 (13-14 years): 300 m swim, 7.0 km cycle, 2.0 km run.
- Youth A (15-16 years): 400 m swim, 9.8 km cycle, 3.0 km run.
