Tryptophan Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K
The Tryptophan event takes place on Thanksgiving Day in Cumming, Georgia. This 16th annual occurrence offers multiple distances for participants to run or walk, with the start and finish lines located at Brannon Crossing in front of Rosati's Pizza and Sports Pub.
The available race distances include:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1K Fun Run
The 5K course is mostly flat and follows local roads, while the 10K and Half Marathon extensions continue south on Peachtree Parkway before turning back toward the finish line. A virtual participation option is also available, allowing individuals to complete their chosen distance at any location.
In-person participants can collect their race packets on the day before the event at a nearby Starbucks or on the morning of the race at the start location. Every registered participant in both the physical and virtual categories receives a custom race bib, a finisher medal, and a long-sleeve technical shirt.
Awards are provided for the overall male and female winners, as well as masters male and female categories. Additional awards are distributed three deep in age groups ranging from 10 and under to 75 and over, in five-year increments. For safety and logistics, parking is located across the street at The Collection of Forsyth, as the event uses portions of the Brannon Crossing parking lot.
