Race #1 Kuitpo Forest
This event takes place at Kuitpo Hall in Kuitpo Forest near Meadows in the South Mount Lofty Ranges, about 45 minutes by car from Adelaide. The reserve covers roughly 3,600 hectares of plantation and native bushland and is managed for sustainable commercial forestry, conservation of native flora and fauna, and community recreation.
Courses run through a mix of pine plantation and native bush, using wide forestry roads and sections of single track. Participants may encounter native vegetation and fungi such as Amanita muscaria. Routes and maps are subject to frequent change because of forestry operations; competitors are advised to download final course maps shortly before the event.
Distances and maps:
- Long : 24 km
- Medium : 18 km
- Short : 11 km
- Kids cross country : 1 to 1.5 km
The long 24 km course is listed as a UTMB Index race and an ITRA National Challenge event; the courses do not attract ITRA points. Cutoffs and sweepers are applied on course and must be respected; pace targets apply for each distance and cutoffs are strictly enforced. Drink stations provide water and lollies; participants must bring their own drink container. Walkers may take part in the 11 km event only. Placegetters receive medals. Onsite offerings include fruit, nibbles, brownies, sponsor tents, and a short massage service, plus a members only random draw. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
