Race #1 Kuitpo Forest
The Kuitpo Forest event takes place in the South Mount Lofty Ranges, located approximately 45 minutes from Adelaide near the township of Meadows. The course traverses the ancient lands of the Kaurna and Peramangk peoples within a 3,600-hectare reserve. Participants travel through a combination of scenic pine plantations and native bushland, utilizing a mix of forestry roads and single tracks.
The event offers several distance options to accommodate different preferences:
- 24 km Long course (UTMB Index and ITRA National Challenge event)
- 18 km Medium course
- 11 km Short course (Open to both runners and walkers)
- 1 km Kids cross-country run
The 24 km long course is recognized as a UTMB Index race. For all distances, a strict course closure is enforced, requiring all participants to cross the finish line by 11:30 am. Walkers are specifically invited to participate in the 11 km event to ensure completion within the designated timeframe.
The event operates as a cup-less race, meaning participants must bring their own drinking containers for use at the water stations. Nutrition and lollies are also available at these stations. Post-race amenities include fruit and snacks, while medal presentations are held for placegetters in each category. The event site at Kuitpo Hall provides space for sponsor tents and recovery services. Due to potential parking restrictions, carpooling is encouraged for all attendees.
