Burra Burra Trout Trot 5K
The Burra Burra Trout Trot 5K is a sanctioned running event taking place in the Appalachian mountain region. The race features a 3.1-mile course that highlights the unique geography of the area by crossing the state line between McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee. The route is paved and primarily flat with only one hill, winding through two downtown districts and running alongside the Toccoa River.
This event is part of the Riverwalk Run Series and coincides with the Blue Ridge Trout Fest in Fannin County. The course is designated as an Official Peachtree Qualifier for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. Registration is open to a variety of participants, including runners, walkers, and those with strollers or dogs. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual participation option is also available.
The event structure includes several categories and amenities:
- 5K Run/Walk: A 3.1-mile paved course crossing two states and a steel bridge.
- Virtual 5K: An option to complete the distance and post results remotely.
All finishers receive a medal upon completion of the course. Awards are presented to the overall female and male winners, as well as to top finishers in age groups ranging from 0-9 to 80+. Participation in all three events of the Riverwalk Run Series entitles participants to a specific challenge item. Facilities include free parking located across from McCaysville City Park and water provided at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
