Triathlon International de Piopolis
The Triathlon International de Piopolis takes place in a natural setting of rivers and mountains. The half long distance race crosses the Canada United States border, connecting parts of the Estrie region with the state of Maine.
The swim is a width crossing of Lac Mégantic, described as a clear lake surrounded by mountains. The bike leg is 90 km on Route 27, a smooth, well maintained road with alternating hills and curves. The run follows a multiuse crushed rock trail along the Carrabassett River, shaded by trees and typically cooler under the canopy.
The event is offered in solo and team formats. Logistics include bib pickup the day before, and on race day the setup of the transition area, shuttles to the start, a post race meal and podiums, and a shuttle back to Piopolis.
Event sites are: welcome site at 516 rue Principale, Piopolis QC, and finish site at 1242 Carrabassett Dr, Carrabassett Valley ME. ITRA points do not apply. The event is presented as an intimate nature centered race with a convivial atmosphere. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
