Event Details
The Tri the Parks - Don Carter State Park Sprint is a multi-sport event taking place in August 2026 at Don Carter State Park in Gainesville, Georgia. It offers several sprint-distance competitions. The maximum participant field is 300 people.
Event Format and Courses
The event includes individual and relay options for three disciplines:
- Sprint Triathlon (600 m swim, 10.9 mile bike, 5k run)
- Sprint Duathlon (run, bike, run)
- Sprint Aquabike (600 m swim, 10.9 mile bike)
The swim course is a 600-meter rectangular loop in the lake, starting from a dock. The bike course is a 10.9-mile loop on roads outside the state park, which are open to traffic and feature rolling hills. The run course is a 5k consisting of two laps on a paved park path.
Participant Information
Registration is open to participants aged 9 and older. An awards ceremony is scheduled after the races. T-shirts are provided in race packets, but are not guaranteed for registrations after a specific date in early August. All athletes are body-marked with their race number and age. Provided swim caps must be worn, as their color indicates swim start position. Bike racks in the transition area are assigned to match race numbers.
Logistics
Parking is available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis starting early in the morning. Participants should bring a photo ID for check-in. The event features a time-trial start for the swim, with athletes entering the water at intervals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
