Event Overview
The Tri-Span race is an established event held in Wilmington, North Carolina. Participants gather at the River Front Park Amphitheater to compete in various distances that showcase the historic downtown area and the Cape Fear Riverwalk along the water.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 10K (6.2 Miles)
- 5K (3.1 Miles)
- LIVESTRONG MILE (1 Mile)
The 10K course follows a route that crosses three downtown bridges. Participants run over the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge to cross the river and move across the Thomas Rhodes Bridge, which provides views of the USS North Carolina and the Wilmington riverfront. The route then crosses the Isabell Holmes bridge to return to the downtown finish line.
The 5K is designed as an out and back course through downtown Wilmington. For those participating in the LIVESTRONG MILE, the event serves as a non-timed one-mile walk or run intended to honor individuals whose lives have been impacted by cancer. This segment is open to all participants.
All courses utilize the Cape Fear Riverwalk, which follows the banks of the Cape Fear River. The event is presented in coordination with local professional partners and focuses on the scenic and historic elements of the Wilmington waterfront.
