Susan Bradley-Cox Tri for Sight Triathlon/Duathlon
The Susan Bradley-Cox Tri for Sight is a multi-sport event held at The Club at UK's Spindletop Hall in Lexington, Kentucky. This USAT-sanctioned competition benefits the UK Eye Research Fund and offers several formats including triathlon, duathlon, aqua-bike, and aqua-run. Participants can enter as individuals in categories such as Clydesdale or Athena, or compete as part of a relay team.
The event features the following primary disciplines:
- Triathlon: 400-meter pool swim, 12.6-mile bike, and 3-mile run.
- Duathlon: 2-mile run, 12.6-mile bike, and 3-mile run.
- Aqua-Bike: 400-meter pool swim and 12.6-mile bike.
- Aqua-Run: 400-meter pool swim and 3-mile run.
The triathlon swim takes place in a heated, outdoor pool with a time trial start on 15-second intervals. Duathletes begin with a flat 2-mile run near Spindletop Hall. The cycling segment for both triathlon and duathlon participants follows a 12.6-mile course on low-traffic roads through horse country east of the Kentucky Horse Park. All athletes finishing with a running segment complete a 3-mile course. For those in the aqua-bike category, timing concludes upon re-entering the transition area after the cycling stage.
