Tri for Real Triathlon, Aquabike and Super Sprint Triathlon
The event at Rancho Seco Park in Herald, California, includes three race formats and is USAT sanctioned for 2027 for the Tri for Real triathlon and the aquabike; the super sprint triathlon is not USAT sanctioned. Athletes receive a swim cap, post-race refreshments, and a commemorative finisher piece.
Distances
- Super Sprint Tri: 200 yd swim, 4 mi bike, 1 mile run
- Tri for Real: 1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run
- Aquabike: 1.5K swim, 40K bike
The transition area is for athletes only, first-come except for reserved bike racks for TRI clubs. Bodymarking is required at the transition entrance and glass or bottles are not allowed in transition. Aid stations are located in transition, at the run start, and at miles 1, 2.5, 3.5, and 5.2 on the run course offering cold water, energy gels, and FLUID electrolyte beverage.
Equipment and event rules note expected lake water temperatures of 72-76 degrees and that wetsuits are optional. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled while on the bike. Run numbers must be worn on the run and at the finish and listening devices are not permitted.
The race has age group divisions, specialty divisions such as Athena and Clydesdale, relay categories, and awards for overall and age group placings. The organizer maintains a no refund policy with limited credit and transfer options and states that events are held rain or shine.
