Trail Running at Raccoon Mountain
Trash Panda is a trail running event held at Raccoon Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The races take place on a course based at Laurel Point, featuring a loop that is slightly longer than 3.1 miles. The terrain is technical, consisting of rocks and roots, although there are no water crossings. While trail shoes are recommended, they are not a requirement for participation.
The event is designed with a non-competitive atmosphere, focusing on community and support. Participants have access to highly stocked aid stations located mid-course and at the start/finish area, ensuring runners are never more than two miles from supplies. Available resources include water, electrolyte drinks, soda, energy gels, and various snacks such as chips, cookies, and sandwiches. Support staff are available to assist with basic first aid and foot care.
Available distances include:
- 5-ish K (slightly longer than a 5K)
- 10K
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- Metric Marathon (26.2K)
- Marathon (26.2 Miles)
- 50K Ultramarathon
All participants are subject to an eight-hour time limit for all distances. Runners must begin their final lap by 3:45 pm due to mountain regulations. Those who do not finish their intended distance will receive a time for the distance they successfully completed. Finisher awards consist of locally produced, personalized wooden medals for those who register by the specified deadline. The venue provides space for drop bags and personal tents near the aid station. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
