Lookout Mountain Trail Race
The Lookout Mountain Trail Race takes place in Lookout Mountain, GA on December 19, 2026. Races begin high on the mountain at the Covenant College campus and use predominantly single-track trails that mix steep climbs, runnable sections, and moderate descents.
Distances include:
- 50 Miler
- 18 Miler
- 10K
The 50 and 18 mile courses share the initial 18 miles. The route crosses or follows at least five creeks and passes through the Lula Lake Land Trust area, which includes rhododendron, mixed hardwood and Hemlock forests and the 120 foot Lula Falls. The course also navigates two exposed bluff lines with extensive views; on one section it is possible to see five states on a clear day.
Aid stations on course provide hot soup and evening camp fires and reflect Southern hospitality. The 10K starts with flat cross-country loops on college trails, then moves to narrow creekside single track with a couple of steep climbs; parts of this course are suitable for hiking.
Online registration closes in December or once the maximum field is reached. Race proceeds benefit Wild Trails, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on the use, protection and expansion of nature trails in the greater Chattanooga area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
