Lookout Mountain Trail Race - December 19, 2026
The event takes place at Lookout Mountain, GA, and is organized by Wild Trails. Races begin high atop the mountain at the Covenant College campus and use predominantly single-track trails.
Distances:
- 50 Miler
- 18 Miler
- 10K
The main courses include a variety of climbs, highly runnable sections, and moderate descents. The 50-mile and 18-mile races travel together for that 18-mile segment. The route crosses or follows multiple creeks and navigates two exposed bluff lines with wide views; on one section it is possible to see five states on a clear day.
The 50-mile course leads to Lula Lake Land Trust and passes through rhododendron, mixed hardwood, and hemlock forests, including a segment by the 120-foot Lula Falls. Aid stations provide hot soup and on-site amenities described as Southern hospitality, with camp fires at night.
The 10K starts with flat, faster miles on college cross country trails before turning to narrow trails alongside two creeks with a couple of steep climbs, making it suitable for hiking by trail newcomers if they prefer.
Online registration details note that registration will close December 14 at midnight EST or when the maximum field is reached. Race fees are listed from USD 38.50 to USD 103.43. Race proceeds benefit Wild Trails, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on the use, protection, and expansion of nature trails in the greater Chattanooga area.
