Traprock 50
Traprock 50 is a loop trail event held at Penwood State Park near Bloomfield, CT, offering two distance options:
- 50K
- 17K
The course uses an approximate loop of 10.5 to 11 miles. The 17K is one loop and the 50K is three loops. Terrain is rolling and consists of forest roads and single track. About half of the route follows technical single track on the Metacomet Trail, with the remainder on double-track. Single track sections can be extremely rocky and require careful footing. The course configuration will not change; a notable power line hill remains on the route.
Organizers note a nine hour cutoff for the 50K and recommend that entrants have recent long-distance experience such as a road or trail marathon. The event is cupless; participants are expected to use their own cup or handheld bottle. Chip timing will be used for the 2026 edition. Tech shirts are available for separate purchase in the event store.
Once the race reaches capacity, a waitlist opens. Waitlist selections follow registration order and selected runners have two days to accept before the spot moves to the next person. Registration closes on Wed, Apr 15 at 11:59 PM ET. Refunds are 50 percent if cancelled before March 1; there are no refunds after that date, and no bib transfers or deferrals.
Traprock is organized by CT Trailmixers, a volunteer non profit. Race proceeds are directed to local organizations including the Simsbury Land Trust and the Connecticut Forest & Parks Association. A course map is available on AllTrails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
