Traprock 50
Traprock 50 is a trail race day in Penwood State Park, Bloomfield, CT on April 17, 2027. Two distances are offered:
- 50K three loops, approximately 10.5 to 11 miles per loop
- 17K single loop, approximately 10.5 to 11 miles
The course is a loop format with each loop about 10.5 to 11 miles. About half of the route is technical single track on the Metacomet Trail; the remainder is double-track. The surface consists entirely of rolling forest roads or single track that can be extremely rocky. Organizers state there will be no course changes and that the power line hill remains on the route. A nine hour cutoff applies to the 50K.
The event is organized by the CT Trailmixers, a volunteer trail running club and nonprofit. Race proceeds will go to local organizations including the Simsbury Land Trust and the Connecticut Forest and Parks Association. The event uses a waitlist when capacity is reached; entrants are selected from the waitlist in registration order and have two days to accept a spot when offered. The race is cupless so participants should provide their own cup or bottle. Chip timing was noted as returning in 2026. Registration opens November 26, 2026.
