Event details
The Traprock 50 takes place on April 18, 2026, at Penwood State Park in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Distances offered:
- 50K - three loops (each loop about 10.5 to 11 miles)
- 17K - one loop
Registration closes on Wed, Apr 15 at 11:59 PM ET. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist opens; entrants are selected from the waitlist in registration order and have two days to accept a spot when offered.
Course and logistics
The course is a looped route composed of rolling forest roads and single track, with about 50% technical single track on the Metacomet Trail and the remainder on double-track. Sections can be extremely rocky; the course includes a notable power line hill that will remain on the route. The 50K has a 9-hour cutoff. The race is cupless; participants must bring their own cup or handheld bottle. Chip timing will be used in 2026. A course map is available on AllTrails.
Organizer and policies
The event is organized by the CT Trailmixers, a volunteer non-profit trail running club. Race proceeds will support local organizations, including the Simsbury Land Trust and the Connecticut Forest & Parks Association. Refunds: 50% refund if cancelling before March 1; no refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals after that date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
