CLA Blue Back Mitten Run
The CLA Blue Back Mitten Run is a community 5K held in West Hartford that follows a 3.1 mile route through decorated neighborhoods and past shop windows in Blue Back Square. The event is presented as a seasonal, family friendly road race that welcomes runners and walkers of varied ages and abilities.
Distances and youth options
- 5K road race, 3.1 mile course through West Hartford neighborhoods
- HMF FitKids runs: 1/2 mile or 1 mile for ages 2 to 11, finishing at Blue Back Square
5K participants receive a holiday inspired beanie and post race cookies in Blue Back Square. The event is part of the Sleigh the Ks challenge that combines this 5K with other holiday races such as the Norwich Winterfest 5K and the 12Ks of Christmas to earn additional apparel and collectible items.
The Hartford Marathon Foundation organizes the race as part of its calendar of community road races. The event also collects donations of new winter hats, gloves, and mittens to support local neighbors in need, and accepts financial contributions to the Town That Cares Fund through the Town of West Hartford Department of Social Services.
