Event overview
The CLA Blue Back Mitten Run is a holiday 5K road race held in West Hartford on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The 3.1-mile course goes through decorated neighborhoods and past festive shop windows, finishing in Blue Back Square. The event includes a family kids run with short-distance options for young children.

Participation and community details
5K participants receive a holiday-inspired beanie and post-race holiday cookies in Blue Back Square. Early registrants receive a personalized race bib. The HMF FitKids run offers a 1/2 mile or 1-mile dash for children ages 2-11.
The event is part of the Sleigh the Ks holiday challenge, which combines participation in this race with the Norwich Winterfest 5K and the 12Ks of Christmas challenge to earn additional apparel and an ornament. Collections are taken for new winter hats, gloves, and mittens to benefit neighbors in need. Cash and check donations on site support the Town That Cares Fund, a program of the Town of West Hartford’s Department of Social Services.
