CLA Blue Back Mitten Run
The CLA Blue Back Mitten Run is a community road event held on Sunday, December 6, 2026. The primary race is a 5K (3.1 miles) that winds through West Hartford neighborhoods and passes decorated shop windows.
Distances and youth options include:
- 5K road race
- HMF FitKids 1/2 mile or 1-mile dash to Blue Back Square for children ages 2-11
5K participants receive a holiday-inspired beanie and post-race holiday cookies in Blue Back Square. The event is part of the Sleigh the Ks holiday challenge, which links multiple seasonal 5Ks and the 12Ks of Christmas; challenge participants earn additional apparel and an ornament as part of combined rewards.
A new HMF Milestone membership program launched in 2026 offers optional perks such as a custom birthday gift, a personalized bib at select events when registered in advance, and access to member-only wait lists for sold out events. An enhanced paid Milestone+ option adds specialty apparel, extra loyalty rewards, and a Mail My Packet service at select events.
In the spirit of the season, the event collects new winter hats, gloves, and mittens for neighbors in need and accepts monetary donations on site to support the Town That Cares Fund.
