Trails & Tarmac 12hr BYU - Winter
Trails & Tarmac is a 12-hour Backyard Ultra-style event near Crickhowell in the Black Mountains, Powys, United Kingdom. The course is a 4.167 mile loop that is evenly split between trail and tarmac. The route has one gradual climb and a short steep section; the remainder is relatively flat.
The event uses the Backyard Ultra format: the first eleven loops must each be completed within an hour, and the twelfth loop is a race to determine the winner. The event is capped at 12 hours. Timing will be available and results report the distance covered by each runner.
Awards and provisions include a trophy for first place, a medal for each completed loop, and a special medal for anyone who reaches 32 miles (an ultra). Runners will be fed and watered during the event, with additional hot food provided after the fifth loop.
Facilities and support: medical staff on site, showers and toilets, event photographers with free post-event downloads, and parking at headquarters for a fee that includes entry to a separate informal event. Supporter rules include no supporters in the starting corral, no phone calls to or from runners on course except in an emergency, and restricted access to the kitchen area.
