Trailblazer Hybrid Fitness Trail Race
The Trailblazer Hybrid Fitness Trail Race on Sunday, October 18, 2026 takes individual racers on approximately 2.5 miles around Mt. Hope Reservoir in Oneida, NY. Individual competitors complete two laps while team competitors complete a single lap each. Each lap includes five numbered fitness zones, combining running on gravel roads, mud, hills, and single track with bodyweight and carrying exercises. The event is at Mt. Hope Reservoir Park on Mt. Hope Avenue. Preregistration fees are $30 plus fees for individuals aged 16 and older and $60 plus fees for teams. Day of race cash entry is $40 for individuals and $80 for teams.
Participants perform 20 repetitions of each bodyweight exercise per lap and complete a farmers carry of about 150 yards per lap. Athletes are expected to count their own repetitions out loud so volunteer judges and nearby competitors can hear the count.
The exercise movement standards by zone are: Zones 5 and 10: Hand release push ups starting with chest, abdomen, and thighs on the ground, palms not touching, then pressing up to fully locked elbows with only hands and feet touching the ground. Zones 4 and 9: Farmers carry with two one gallon jugs carried down the hill to a turnaround and back, returned upright on the matted area. Zones 3 and 8: Alternating reverse lunges from standing to the back knee touching the mat and returning to full upright. Zones 2 and 7: Bent legged sit ups from seated with feet on ground to leaning back until shoulder blades touch the mat and then sitting up to roughly 90 degrees. Zones 1 and 6: Lateral top switch plyometric jumps using a wooden beam, pushing off laterally and switching feet onto the beam. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
