Townsville 10 Miler
Townsville 10 Miler is a club run organised by Townsville Road Runners with the James Cook University Social Sciences Building as the start and finish location. The event awards club points and is open to members and non-members.
Distances offered include:
- Long course: 16 km
- Short course: 5 km
The long course follows local roads and riverside paths around JCU, using James Cook Drive and Discovery Drive, a tunnel under University Road, several footbridges across Ross River, river paths past Aplins Weir and Gleesons Weir, and pedestrian bridges and tunnels before returning to the university. The short course stays closer to the campus, following the ring road onto Buchan Road and Endeavour Drive before returning to James Cook Drive.
Entry is free for members and costs $6 for non-members. Organisers indicate at least three volunteers are ideally required for every timed run; volunteers should register in the event portal and arrive early to help with setup. Full route maps are provided by the organiser for each course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
