Tour de Pain

The Tour de Pain is a three-race series conducted within a 24-hour period. Participants may run one, two, or all three races; a finisher medal and series awards require completion of all three events. The series benefits local high school cross country and track programs, provides summer camp scholarships for high school athletes, and supports construction and maintenance of a new three-mile running trail at Aterro Recreation Park.

The series includes these race distances:

  • 4 mile run at Prominence Business Park, out-and-back road course
  • 5K road race at James Weldon Johnson Park, new 5K course
  • Road mile at James Weldon Johnson Park, two loops of a half mile course

Course features include water stations on course for the 4 mile and 5K, post-race food and drink after the 5K, and a post-race celebration and awards ceremony after the mile. The road mile is run in four heats divided by gender and age: men's open (under 40), men's masters (40 and older), women's open (under 40), and women's masters (40 and older). Series-specific items include moisture-wicking tank tops for participants, finisher medals for those completing all three races, prize money and age-group awards based on combined time, and a beer garden after the final event (beer must remain inside the park).

Packets are available for pickup at selected 1st Place Sports stores and at the 4 mile event location. Entry fees vary by registration date. No refunds or deferrals are permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
