Tough as Nails Urban Challenge : Wheeling, WV
The Tough as Nails Urban Challenge presented by The Health Plan is an urban obstacle event held in downtown Wheeling, WV on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The course features more than 20 obstacles over a multi-mile urban route and is open to participants aged 16 years or older.
The route uses city terrain and built features; examples of obstacles listed include traversing abandoned cars, scaling flood walls, climbing over constructed obstacles and ascending steep inclines. The event emphasizes both physical and mental effort and issues no competitive prizes; participants receive a wicking shirt, a medal and a drink ticket for the after party.
Logistics include packet pickup in the WesBanco Arena lobby, with pickup available on May 22 and May 23 and additional pickup on race morning. Parking is available at the Intermodal Center Parking Garage at 1401 Main St, adjacent to WesBanco Arena and the starting area. Registration requires selecting a time slot; heats are limited in size and participants choose their preferred heat when registering. There is no on-site event registration on the day of the event.
