Tough as Nails Urban Challenge
The Tough as Nails Urban Challenge presented by The Health Plan is a multi-obstacle urban race held in downtown Wheeling, West Virginia on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The course is described as a 5-mile challenge featuring more than 20 obstacles that move participants through urban terrain, including abandoned cars, flood walls and steep inclines.
Entry is open to people aged 16 years or older. Runners start in timed heats sent at 15-minute intervals; each heat is limited to 175 participants and overall entries are limited. There will be no on-site event registration on race day. Each registered participant receives a wicking shirt, a medal and a drink ticket for the post-event gathering.
Packet pickup is located in the WesBanco Arena lobby and is available on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23, plus a packet pickup window on race morning. Parking is available at the Intermodal Center Parking Garage, 1401 Main St, adjacent to WesBanco Arena and the starting area.
