Event
The Tough As Nails Urban Challenge, presented by The Health Plan, is an obstacle race held in downtown Wheeling, West Virginia on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The race features more than 20 obstacles over a course of 5+ miles through urban terrain. The course includes sections that pass abandoned cars, flood walls and steep inclines. The event is open to participants aged 16 and over. A post-race gathering includes food, drinks and live music.
Logistics and entry
Packet pickup is at the WesBanco Arena lobby (2 14th St, Wheeling, WV 26003) with pickup available on the Friday and Saturday before the event and on race morning. Parking is available at the Intermodal Center Parking Garage, 1401 Main St, next to WesBanco Arena. Runners start in timed waves/heats that depart at 15-minute intervals; waves are limited in size (150 participants per wave). There is no on-site registration on the day of the event. Registered participants receive a wicking shirt, a medal and a drink ticket. The listed entry price for the main obstacle event is $65.
