Route

The Totem to Totem Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile point-to-point course from Rotary Beach (also known as Bugge's Beach) to Potlatch Park in Ketchikan, Alaska. The planned traditional route follows Tongass Highway along the coastal side, passing through downtown Ketchikan. Organizers note there is currently no major construction scheduled on the highway, but the route is subject to change. The course has ocean and totem pole views.

Event Details

The event is open to runners, walkers, and relay teams. It typically has a field of 100 to 200 participants. Aid stations are located at approximately miles 4, 5.5, 7, 8.5, and 10.5, providing water, sports drinks, snacks, and first aid. The finish line celebration includes a free BBQ for participants and a beer garden for those 21 and over. Pets and strollers are not allowed for safety reasons.

Logistics

Bib pickup is available on Friday at Ketchikan Parks & Recreation and on Saturday morning at Potlatch Park. Parking at the start and finish areas is limited; carpooling or using public transit is encouraged. The local bus service waives fares for participants showing their race bib.
