Ken Teune Memorial Stampede
The Ketchikan Running Club hosts its annual membership drive race and fun run on April 11, 2026, in Ketchikan, Alaska. The event honors Ken Teune, described in the event materials as a coach, teacher, and member of the local running community. The start and finish are at the Ketchikan Fire Department, 70 Bawden Street, Ketchikan.
Distances offered:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The 1 mile course follows Spruce Mill Way to the dock with a marked turnaround at Berth 3 and returns to the fire department finish. The 5K route goes via the Federal Building parking lot and Stedman Street, continues past Doyon's Landing to a marked turnaround, and returns around the Federal Building to Bawden Street for the finish. Cones and "Runners in the Road" signs will be placed along each route to guide participants.
For safety, the club will monitor a street crossing on the 1 mile route with volunteers and will monitor the turnarounds. Pets and strollers are strongly discouraged because they pose a safety risk on the course. Online registration closes April 9, and in-person registration is available the morning of the race at the Ketchikan Fire Department. Entry to this event is free for 2026 Ketchikan Running Club members; membership pricing and categories are provided by the club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
