Topeka Road Run
The Topeka Road Run is held on July 4, 2026, at Topeka East Park, 510 E Lake Street, Topeka, IN. The event is part of the town's Independence Day celebration, which also includes a parade, fireworks, tournaments, food vendors, kids games and a watermelon eating contest. Begun in 1974, the road run is the oldest consecutively run race in the state.
The program includes two races:
- 1 Mile Fun Run for kids 13 and under.
- 5K race open to all ages.
Medals are awarded to the top three boys and girls in the One-Mile Fun Run. For the 5K, prizes are given to the top three men and women overall and to the top finisher in each age division. Age groups for awards are: 1-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+.
Registration details: pre-registration opens July 13, 2025 and closes July 3, 2026. Pre-registration fees are $20 for the 5K and $15 for the 1 Mile. Race day registration is available on July 4 at higher fees: 5K $25 and 1 Mile $20. Race day packet pick-up is located in the park pavilion.
