Event Details

The Top Gun Night Run 6k is hosted by the Capt. Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial. It is an annual event held in Smyrna, Tennessee, at Lee Victory Recreation Park. The course is 3.7 miles and passes by the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport and the Smyrna Municipal golf course. The finish line is at the memorial.

The run is chip-timed and USATF certified. Participation is limited to 650 runners. Spectators and runners can enjoy live music and vendors in the park.

Background

The event honors USMC Captain Jeff Kuss, who died in a plane crash during a Blue Angels performance at the Great Tennessee Air Show in Smyrna on June 2, 2016. The illuminated memorial in Lee Victory Park features a retired Blue Angel F/A-18 Hornet aircraft on permanent loan.

Proceeds from the run go toward the maintenance of the memorial and a scholarship fund created in 2023.
