Tombstone 5K
The Tombstone 5K is a timed run/walk held on October 17, 2026, at Mount Greenwood Cemetery in Chicago (2900 West 111th Street). The course runs through the historic cemetery grounds. Participants are encouraged to run in costume. A portion of event proceeds will be donated to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.

- 5K - limited spots available
- Untimed Walker - limited spots available
The race uses a disposable chip timing tag attached to the race bib. Runners must wear bibs on the front of their clothing for accurate timing; watches and phones can interfere with the timing chip and disputes based on smartwatches or phones will not be considered. Timing clocks are located at the start and the finish. Water will be available at Mile 1, Mile 2, and at the finish.
Race packets include a hoodie; guaranteed hoodies require registration by the event's published deadline. Packet pick up is available at the Running Excels location in Chicago on the days before the race. Race day registration is available during a limited morning window. Race registrations are non refundable but bib transfers to another person are permitted; sweatshirt size may not be altered after the event cutoff.
Top male and female overall finishers receive a pair of Brooks Ghost running shoes. First place finishers in each age group receive medals.
Parking is available along 111th Street and nearby residential streets; no parking will be allowed inside the cemetery on race day. For safety, bikes, skates, and pets are not allowed on the course; jogging strollers are permitted and walkers are asked to position themselves behind runners.
