Tombstone 5K : Chicago
The Tombstone 5K is a timed 5 kilometer run and walk held on October 17, 2026 at Mount Greenwood Cemetery, 2900 West 111th Street, Chicago, IL. The course runs through the historic cemetery grounds and includes timing clocks at the start and finish.
The event offers a competitive timed 5K and an untimed walker entry. Race timing uses a disposable chip attached to the race bib; bibs must be worn on the front of clothing and kept uncovered. Water is provided at mile 1, mile 2, and at the finish. For safety, bikes, skates, and pets are not allowed on the course; jogging strollers are permitted and walkers are asked to start behind runners.
A portion of event proceeds will be donated to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes. Overall top female and male finishers will receive a pair of Brooks Ghost running shoes courtesy of Running Excels, and first place finishers in each age group will receive medals.
Registration is non refundable but bibs may be transferred to another participant. Race packets include a hoodie and the event sets a registration deadline to guarantee a hoodie. Packet pickup takes place at Running Excels, 10328 S Western Ave, Chicago on the days before the event. Parking is available along 111th Street and nearby residential streets; no parking will be available inside the cemetery on race day.
