About the race
The Tombstone 5K is a timed run with an untimed walker option held at Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, 2900 W 111th St, Chicago, on Saturday, October 17, 2026. A portion of the event proceeds will be donated exclusively to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. Race packets include a hoodie.
Participants who register by midnight Wednesday, September 30 are guaranteed a hoodie. Sweatshirt size cannot be altered after 2026-09-29. Packet pick up is at Running Excels, 10328 S.
Western Ave, Chicago, on Thursday 10-15-26 and Friday 10-16-26 (12:00 to 18:00). Race day registration is available the morning of the event. Timing uses a disposable chip attached to the race bib. Runners must wear the bib on the front of their clothing for accurate timing, and must not bend the chip.
Smart watches and phones can interfere with the timing system; time disputes based on those devices will not be considered. Timing clocks are located at the start and the finish. Awards include a pair of Brooks Ghost running shoes for the top female and top male overall, and medals for first place finishers in each age group. Water is provided at mile 1, mile 2, and at the finish.
Free parking is available along 111th Street and nearby residential streets; no parking is available inside the cemetery. For safety, bikes, skates, and pets are not allowed on the course; jogging strollers are permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
