Ditka Dash
The Ditka Dash is a themed 5K road race held on October 3, 2026, at Soldier Field in Chicago. The event includes on-course timing using the Dash-O-Meter 3000; a timing device is attached to each official bib.
Participants receive themed race swag including an event mustache, aviator shades, a race shirt inspired by a sweater vest, and a championship finisher medal. At the finish, participants are offered Da Beer. A post-race celebration called Da Mustache Bash features live music and Polish sausage.
Registration is first come, first served and all registrations are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Packet pick-up is available on specified days before the race and a race day packet pick-up option is offered for an additional fee. Third parties may pick up packets by presenting the participant QR code.
Participants must maintain at least a 20:00 minute pace per mile; walkers are welcome if they meet this pace. All participants must wear their official bib number visibly. The event includes a Ditka-Pede division for teams of two or more that start and finish connected; team names are required and all team members must wear the event mustache. Awards cover top finishers and multiple team categories, including Ditka-Pede honors.
Parking is available in specific Soldier Field lots for a fee; carpooling and public transit are encouraged. The race proceeds rain or shine; officials may delay, postpone, or cancel for safety reasons. In the event of lightning within a 10 mile radius, the race is postponed in 30 minute increments until conditions clear. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
