Ditka Dash : Soldier Field 5K
Ditka Dash is a themed 5K (3.1 miles) road event at Soldier Field in Chicago on December 12, 2026. The event includes participant timing with an event timing system and no overall time limit.
All participants receive themed swag including an iconic mustache, aviator shades, a race shirt inspired by a sweater vest, and a finisher medal. At the finish area, participants are offered beer. A post-race celebration called Da Mustache Bash features Polish sausage, beer, and live music.
Packet pick-up is available before race day at Da Fan Club (1001 N North Branch, Chicago) on the stated pre-race dates; a third party may pick up a packet with the participant’s QR code. A VIP race day packet pick-up option is offered for a fee and is available only to those who select it during registration.
The event includes a team division called Ditka-Pede for teams of two or more who run connected by lights, cords, props, or costume elements. Ditka-Pede rules require a team name, visible bib numbers, mustaches for team members, and that teams start and finish connected; other division rules and award categories are specified by organizers. Awards are given in multiple categories including top male and female finishers and team-based prizes.
Registrations are nonrefundable and nontransferable. The event takes place rain or shine; in the event of nearby lightning the race may be postponed in 30-minute increments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
