Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon
The event is held at Parc Bryn Bach on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in Wales. It features a lake swim fed by the waters of the Black Mountains, a 60 mile bike route on quiet roads through the Brecon moors, and a three-lap run around the lake and park.
Race formats include:
- Triathlon: 1.2 mile swim (2 laps), 60 mile bike, 13.1 mile run (3 laps)
- Aquabike: 1.2 mile swim (2 laps), 60 mile bike
There are two feed stations on the bike route at roughly 17 and 43 miles and three feed stations per run lap. Chip timing records splits and run laps, and the event includes prizes for overall and age-group positions as well as trophies and a King/Queen of the Mountain prize on the bike. All finishers receive a medal and a T-shirt.
Competitors must bring a working front light and rear light attached to their bikes, and a jacket to wear on the bike in case of cold or poor weather. Organisers state there are no strict section cut offs, though they expect most triathletes to be close to finishing within nine hours and aquabike competitors within 6.5 hours; safety considerations may require some participants to stop if necessary.
On-site facilities include catering, toilets, showers, sports massage and race photography. A bunk house at Parc Bryn Bach offers on-site accommodation with showers, a café and a bar. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
