About the race
TinMan Durban is a multisport series held at Suncoast Casino and the Durban Golden Mile. The 2027 events are scheduled for 21 February, 25 April and 7 November and include running, cycling and open-sea swimming on mapped courses.
Entry categories offered:
- 10 km Fun Run, varies between 9.5 km and 9.8 km
- Mini Tri Individual, 200 m swim / 6 km cycle / 2.5 km run
- Super Sprint Tri, 400 m swim / 12 km cycle / 2.5 km run
- Sprint Tri Individual, 750 m swim / 22 km cycle / 5 km run
- Sprint Relay Teams, 750 m swim / 22 km cycle / 5 km run
- Sprint Duathlon, 5 km run / 22 km cycle / 2.5 km run
- Challenge Tri Individual, 1.2 km swim / 32 km cycle / 10 km run
- Challenge Relay Team, 1.2 km swim / 32 km cycle / 10 km run
Swimming takes place in the sea. Cycling uses road courses with full road closure. Running uses the Durban Promenade toward South Beach and back. Bike and run route maps are provided by the organiser. All athletes must hold an annual Triathlon SA licence or purchase a temporary event licence valid for the race.
Registration is at the Suncoast Sundeck in Durban, with race-day registration on Sunday morning from 5:45 am to 7:00 am. Event services include timed results, swim lifeguards, run marshals, medical assistance, a reusable race number, a finishers medal, a pair of race sox and top-three prizes for male and female categories.
