About the race
The Tinahely Half Marathon is a marked mountain trail event in County Wicklow with a race distance of 22.50 km and total ascent of 1,030 m. The organiser grades the event as difficult terrain with significant climbing and allows GPS navigation. The route uses sections of the Wicklow Way, begins at the Derry Water bridge and comprises two loops of Mullins Hill followed by a final loop up and down Muskeagh (Farneys Hill), finishing at the junction of the Wicklow Way and Cuckoo Lane. Registration takes place in Crossbridge community hall, which provides toilets and post-race facilities for hot drinks; runners are asked to bring a mug if possible. Parking is organised in a field in the village; participants must not park at the Derry Water bridge or drive along Cuckoo Lane and should follow marshal directions.
Mandatory race kit is Level B and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored and a foil blanket or bivvy bag; runners must be able to carry the required items and random kit checks may be carried out. GPS is permitted and the race carries 1 ITRA point. The entry fee is €20; entries close on Friday 7th August 2026. The event is part of the Leinster Half-Marathon League and is a trial race for selection to a national team based on combined results with another trial.
