Tinahely Half Marathon
Tinahely Half Marathon takes place in County Wicklow on Saturday 8 August 2026. The route covers 21.70 km with approximately 1080 m of climb. The event is rated at difficulty level 9 for difficult terrain, more than 500 m ascent and a distance over 10 km.
The course follows sections of the Wicklow Way. The start is at the Derry water bridge outside Tinahely, with the route consisting of two loops of Mullins Hill; the first loop is slightly longer than the second. The route also includes a loop up and down Muskeagh Hill and crosses the Derry water bridge heading south. The finish is at the junction of the Wicklow Way and Cuckoo Lane.
Only major junctions will be marked and GPS devices are not permitted. Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced and must be carried as required; required items include a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL water, emergency food, map of the route or area, and a compass. Random kit checks may be carried out and lack of required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
Entry fee is €20. Entries open on Monday 3 August 2026 and close on Friday 7 August 2026. The race is part of the inaugural Leinster Weekend. IMRA has arranged camping in Glenmalure Valley near the Avonbeg river with coin operated showers and portable toilets; other nearby accommodation options are named in event information.
