Tinahely Half Marathon
Tinahely Half Marathon is scheduled for Saturday 8 August 2026 in Tinahely, County Wicklow. The event is a marked mountain half marathon that is part of the Leinster Half Marathon League and carries 1 ITRA point.
The route is listed at about 21.70 km with approximately 1,080 m of climb. The course uses the Wicklow Way and starts on the Derry water bridge outside Tinahely. The route consists of two loops of Mullins Hill, the first loop slightly longer than the second, and includes a loop up and down Muskeagh Hill. The finish is at the junction of the Wicklow Way and Cuckoo Lane. The route will be fully marked and GPS devices are not allowed. The event difficulty is recorded as difficult terrain with more than 500 m ascent and a distance over 10 km.
Entry details on the event page show an entry fee of €20, entries open Monday 3 August 2026 and close Friday 7 August 2026, and the entry limit is 250 places. This event is described as a new race within the inaugural Leinster Weekend and a proposed route map is subject to ratification.
Mandatory Level B kit must be brought to the race and may be checked. Required items include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The specific kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day and advised at registration.
IMRA has arranged camping in the Glenmalure Valley beside the Avonbeg River with coin operated showers at the lodge and portaloos on site; booking will open via the IMRA shop in June. Other nearby accommodation options include Glenmalure Lodge and Coolalingo B&B. For parking when recceing the route and on race day do not park at the Derry water bridge; park up the road at Crossbridge. Prize giving and parking and registration are at Crossbridge school.
This race will serve as the second of two trial races for the Nasego Mountain Running Six Nations event in Italy on 5 and 6 September 2026. Qualifying athletes must participate in both the Vertical and Trofeo races held on consecutive days; the first trial race is the Lug Uphill on 7 August 2026.
