Event Details
The Tinahely Half Marathon is a trail running event scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026. It takes place in south Wicklow, near Tinahely, which is approximately 40 minutes west of Rathnew.
Course Information
The race covers a 21 km distance with 1100 m of total climb. The course terrain is unmarked except for major junctions, and the use of GPS devices is not permitted.
Mandatory Kit
The event requires Level C - Advanced mandatory kit. Runners must bring all listed items to the race. The specific items to be carried during the event will be confirmed on race day based on conditions. The full list includes:
- Waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams
- Hat or buff
- Gloves
- Whistle
- Charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored
- Foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent
- Waterproof full leg cover
- Means to carry a minimum of 500 mL of water
- Emergency food
- Map of the route/area
- Compass
Runners must also have a means to carry all required kit. Failure to present the required items may result in denied entry or disqualification, and random checks may be conducted.
Additional Information
This event is part of the Leinster Half-Marathon League. The route description, directions, early start option, and organizer instructions are still to be confirmed. The race is also designated as a trial race for the Nasego Mountain Running Six Nations event in Italy on September 5-6, 2026, with qualifying times to be announced in 2026.
