TimberRidge Adventure Race
The TimberRidge Adventure Race takes place at TimberRidge Adventure Center in Olathe, Kansas. This event utilizes hundreds of acres of nature, including hiking trails, biking tracks, and preserved prairie grasslands. Participants can choose between two main durations: a 2-hour course and a 6-hour course.
Available event categories include:
- 6-Hour Solo and Teams: Featuring 5-7 miles of trekking, 10-15 miles of mountain biking, and 1-2 miles on the water.
- 2-Hour Solo and Teams: A trekking-only course covering approximately 5 miles.
- KCCC Fall Series 2-Hour Team: A specific category for the Kansas City Corporate Challenge.
The 2-hour course is designed for trekking to checkpoints and may include challenges through brush, trees, and water. The 6-hour course requires participants to navigate using topographic maps to find pre-plotted checkpoints. This longer race includes trekking on and off trails, biking on single track and paved trails, and paddling on the lake.
This is a self-supported event, meaning participants must carry their own water, food, and first aid supplies. While transition area checkpoints are mandatory, most other checkpoints are optional, allowing participants to choose their own routes and strategies. For the water portion of the 6-hour event, solo participants may bring their own kayak or use one provided by the race, while teams are provided with canoes. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
