Event Overview
The Tidewater Striders Duathlon takes place at the Dismal Swamp Trail Park in Chesapeake. This multi-sport event features an out and back course set on a closed two-lane roadway. Participants compete in sequences of running and cycling across different distances.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from several event categories based on their experience level and age:
- Sprint Duathlon: A 2 mile run, a 12.4 mile bike ride, and a 2 mile run.
- Novice Sprint Duathlon: A 16.4 mile total distance for beginners with fewer than four multi-sport competitions.
- Kids Mini-Duathlon: A 1 mile run, a 5 mile bike ride, and an 800 meter run.
- Kids Mini-Duathlon (Adult Participating): A non-competitive option for guardians to accompany children on the course.
Participant Information
The course is supported by two aid stations providing water and electrolyte drinks, located at the transition area and the one-mile run turnaround. Finishers receive a medal and a race shirt, provided they register by the specified deadline in late May. On-site hospitality and refreshments are available following the completion of the races.
Logistics
Bike racks are provided at the venue on the morning of the event. Packet pickup is available at a local bike shop on the day before the race, or at the event site on race morning. There is no registration available on the day of the event. Time limits are set at three hours for the adult distances and two hours for the youth distances.
