Thunder Mountain Challenge
The Thunder Mountain Challenge in Camdenton, MO is a climb-based running event organized by Ha Ha Racing Events and scheduled for October 3, 2026. The event is capped at 75 runners and offers three race formats:
- The Bridal 5Kave, three down-and-up repeats.
- 3 hour Challenge, total completed climbs determine winners.
- 6 hour Challenge, total completed climbs determine winners.
The course is a true out-and-back that descends Thunder Mountain on Bridal Cave Road for about 1/2 mile, includes a short gravel lake road section, then climbs back up to the finish. Each climb gains roughly 300 feet of elevation in about 1/2 mile. Most running is on asphalt with a brief gravel section on the lower portion of the route.
There will be a single aid station and the official check-in location at the Thunder Mountain Park Event Center at the top of the mountain. The aid station will provide water, electrolytes, standard aid station items, and restrooms. A check-in captain will track each runner’s completed climbs in real time and a live scoreboard will be displayed inside the event center.
Rules and logistics include allowed drop bags for the 3 hour and 6 hour races at the start/finish, no pets, and no music, headphones, or earbuds. Parking is in nearby open-air lots; carpooling is encouraged. Bridal Cave is the presenting sponsor and bib holders receive 25% off a guided tour during the race weekend or any day Bridal Cave is open in 2026.
