Thunder in the Valley
The Thunder in the Valley event is a multisport competition held in May at Hawthorn Park in Terre Haute, Indiana. It is a USA Triathlon (USAT) certified event, and a USAT membership or one-day race license is required for registration.
The event offers four different competition formats, each with a team relay option:
- Sprint Triathlon: A 500 m swim, a 20 km bike, and a 5 km run.
- Duathlon: A 1.6 km run, a 20 km bike, and a 5 km run.
- Triathlon Relay Team: Teams of 2 or 3 members.
- Relay Duathlon Team: Teams of 2 members.
Participants receive a finisher medal, swim cap, and event t-shirt. The course is described as starting with a swim in calm Hawthorn Lake, followed by a rolling hill bike course and a flat, shaded out-and-back run.
