Thumbs Up Run/Walk/Bike Event - 13th Annual
The Thumbs Up Run/Walk/Bike Event is a community fundraising event held at Lake Orono Park in Elk River, Minnesota on September 19, 2026. The event is in its 13th year and lists First Bank Elk River as the title sponsor. It supports mental health awareness and provides education on warning signs of suicide, grief support, and community resources.
Event options include multiple timed and untimed distances:
- 5K run, walk, and bike
- 10K run and bike
- Youth Color Run distances by age: 1/2K, 1K, and 1 mile
Participant registration includes entry for the chosen distance, a participant shirt, race bib, and a finisher medal. Registered youth receive a rubber finisher medal and shirt; children age 2 and under are free for the youth event. Bikers are required to wear helmets. Virtual participants who register by August 23 will receive race materials before the event.
On-site offerings include food trucks, water stations along the route, mindfulness and mental health vendors, a grief support and bereavement memorial area, a memory tree for photos, a veteran memorial area, caricatures, miniature horses, youth activities such as face painting and a splash pad (weather dependent), and free parking at the Sherburne County Fairground parking lot.
