TBK Bank Thirsty 13 Half Marathon
The TBK Bank Thirsty 13 Half Marathon is a point-to-point running event held in Durango, Colorado. The course begins at Hesperus Church on Highway 140 and concludes at the Ska Brewing beer garden.
The route is primarily downhill, featuring a total elevation loss of 1400 feet. Participants run through Wildcat Canyon and past Lake Nighthorse. The course uses public roads that remain open to vehicle traffic, though traffic is typically minimal. All runners are instructed to stay on the right shoulder of the road.
The event offers two registration options:
- Just The Race - Includes entry to the half marathon without access to the afternoon festival.
- Race Plus Brewfest - Includes the half marathon and a discounted ticket to the San Juan Brewfest.
There are five aid stations located approximately every 2.5 miles, starting near mile 3. These stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, and first aid. The station near mile 8 also offers snacks. The race has a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes, which is a pace of 16 minutes per mile. An early start option is available for those who anticipate a finishing time longer than 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Finishers receive an official medal mug and a complimentary beverage at the finish line. The San Juan Brewfest, held in Buckley Park after the race, is a 21+ event featuring samples from numerous breweries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
