The Yomp - Out of Eden 5k
The Yomp - Out of Eden 5k is a low-level, family-friendly run held as part of the YOMP Mountain Challenge weekend. The weekend is the 41st running of the YOMP and includes six events spread over three days; the 5k takes place on the final day.
The route runs through Stenkrith Park and along the Viaduct Walk, crossing the Millennium Bridge over Stenkrith waterfall and passing Merrygill and Podgill viaducts. The course is described as suitable for a wide range of ages and fitness levels, though it is not suitable for pushchairs. Dogs are allowed if kept on a lead.
All YOMP events start and finish at Basecamp at The Engine Shed in Kirkby Stephen. Food, drink and music are available at Basecamp before, during and after the 5k. Entry costs £5 per person; under-5s enter free. Entries and registration are available on the day.
The same weekend also includes other activities such as a 25 m abseil from Podgill Viaduct, live music, speakers, catering, retail and camping options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
