Out of Eden 5k Yomp
The Out of Eden 5k is the shortest route offered as part of the Yomp Mountain Challenge weekend. It is listed on the programme for Sunday 14 June and forms one of six routes across the event, which also includes 10k, 20k, a mountain marathon and ultra options.
The Yomp is a volunteer run, three day event based at Pennine View Park in Kirkby Stephen with Basecamp located at The Engine Shed. Basecamp features food vendors, a beer tent, family activities and live music. There is no parking onsite; free event parking is provided at Station Yard, Kirkby Stephen CA17 4LA which is a short walk from the venue. Camping and campervan spaces are allowed on site and local hostels and B and Bs are within walking distance.
The broader event has a long history, originated in 1983, and is entering its fortieth year. It is organised by volunteers and raises money for local charities; the Yomp has donated well over £110,000 in total and in 2025 distributed £10,000 to several local causes.
