The Winter Wipeout!
The Winter Wipeout! is a deep winter half marathon (ish) route from the area of Ingram Cafe to the summit of Hedgehope and back. The event is scheduled for 9 January 2027 and forms Race 3 of the Shadowlands Series. It is run under TRA and UKA rules.
The course is fully marked and lined with marshals. The organiser notes previous years have included sleet, snow and strong winds, and that water features are likely on the route. Participants are required to carry specified winter kit because conditions can be severe. On return, hot soup is provided.
Entries open on 21 January 2026 and close on 7 January 2027. Minimum age for the event is 17 on race day. Entry fees are listed by the organiser as follows: UKA member £35.00, rising to £45.00 from 30 November 2026; non member £37.00, rising to £47.00 from 30 November 2026. A booking fee applies. The organiser offers an optional XCover purchase that may allow a refund for unforeseen nonattendance.
