THE GEORDIEMAN 2026
THE GEORDIEMAN is a multi-discipline endurance event held at Druridge Bay Country Park, Northumberland, centred on Ladyburn Lake and the surrounding coastal roads and nature trails. The event programme includes long and half-distance triathlons plus related race formats around a freshwater lake and nearby beach and dunes.
Event distances include:
- Full distance triathlon: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle, 26.2 mile run
- Half distance triathlon: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile cycle, 13.1 mile run
- Full aquabike: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle
- Half aquabike: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile cycle
- Duathlon: 5 km run, 56 mile cycle, 13.1 mile run
- Aquathlon: 1.2 mile swim, 13.1 mile run
- Open water swim options from 0.5 to 2.4 miles
- Relay categories for many events
Course characteristics are described as calm, clear lake water for the swim, mostly flat coastal roads for the bike and flat paths around the lake, nature reserves and beach views for the run. Route maps are provided by the organiser.
Every finisher receives a medal and an event hoody or T-shirt for swim-only entrants. The event provides live chip timing, stocked feed stations on bike and run routes offering gels, fruit, snacks and hydration, and post-race hot food for most categories. There is a 16-hour cut-off for the full distance. On-site camping is available with hardstanding pitches and shower block; parking at the park requires payment at machines or via the PayByPhone app. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and to age-group winners.
