THE GEORDIEMAN
The Geordieman is a long distance multisport event held at Druridge Bay Country Park in Northumberland. The programme includes full and half distance triathlons plus aquabike, duathlon, aquathlon, relay teams and swim only options in Ladyburn Lake. Race packs are collected at on-site registration and competitors receive live chip timing.
Distances offered include:
- Full Distance Triathlon: 2.4 mile swim • 112 mile cycle • 26.2 mile run
- Half Distance Triathlon: 1.2 mile swim • 56 mile cycle • 13.1 mile run
- Duathlon: 5 km run • 56 mile cycle • 13.1 mile run
- Aquathlon: 1.2 mile swim • 13.1 mile run
The swim takes place in the calm freshwater of Ladyburn Lake. The bike course uses coastal roads that are mostly flat and scenic. The run follows flat paths around the lake, nature reserves and beach views. Feed stations on the bike and run provide VOOM products, fruit, snacks and hydration refills; bike and run feed locations are marked at specific mile points.
There is a secure transition area with equipment checks and requirements for bike numbers and helmets. Every finisher receives a medal and event hoody or T shirt, with hot post‑race food provided except for swim only entries. Camping is available on site with hardstanding pitches and a shower block; parking at the park requires payment. Prizes recognise top finishers and age group winners.
