The Winter Green Man Ultra
The MTC Winter Green Man Ultra is held on the Community Forest Path around Bristol and is offered in two formats: a full 45 mile loop and a partial 30 mile loop. The winter edition is run in an anti clockwise direction and shares the same checkpoints and finish for both distances, with different start locations.
Distances:
- 45 miles / 72 kilometres, full loop starting and finishing at Ashton Park School.
- 30 miles / 48 kilometres, partial loop starting at Keynsham (checkpoint two) and finishing at Ashton Park School.
The event uses chip timing, staffed checkpoints and pacers known as timelords running to 9, 10, 11 and 12 hour targets. Checkpoints provide water, basic food items and toilet facilities; the race is cup free so competitors must carry a reusable cup. Checkpoint count differs by distance: four stations for the 45 mile route and two for the 30 mile route.
Safety and rules include mandatory online registration, age minimum of 20 years, required kit checks and random bag checks. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch and spare batteries, printed or map, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. Cut off limits are enforced so entrants must meet the stated time limits for each distance. Finishers receive a bespoke technical T shirt, bespoke medal and a signed certificate; hot food is available at the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
