The Whitworth Thread
The Whitworth Thread is a timed running event held on a measured course in Whitworth Park, Darley Dale, Matlock. The course covers 5 km completed as three laps around the park. The meeting point is by the monument at the top of Whitworth Park.
The Thread is scheduled on the second Saturday of each month as a regular club-organised run. Timing and basic officiating are provided for the regular Thread. An alternative called the Loose Thread allows participants to run the same course without the officiating or formal timing.
Matlock Athletic Club organises the event and uses the park loop for the three-lap format.
