White Elephant 5K & 1 Mile : Fayetteville
The White Elephant event is a holiday themed run and walk held on the Fayetteville Square on December 12, 2026. It offers two distances:
- 5K road race (run/walk)
- 1 Mile fun run (run/walk)
Registration opens August 1 and continues through December 10. Fees vary by category. Registered participants receive a long sleeve shirt, a finisher medal, photo downloads, and sponsor items.
Packet pick up is available the Friday before the event at the Fayetteville Parks office (100 W Rock Street, Suite 250) and on race morning at the Town Center (15 W Mountain Street).
The courses take place on an open, downtown road network with the start and finish on the Mountain Street side of the Fayetteville Square. The 5K course will have one water station near the halfway point. The route will be marked with orange arrow signs and white spray chalk; a lead bicycle and a sweep will be on course. This is not a fully closed course, so extra caution is advised when running in or crossing streets.
The event includes holiday elements such as Lights of the Ozarks, holiday music, and appearances by Santa. Post-event activities are planned at the Town Center plaza and lobby. All 5K finishers receive a medal; the 5K also awards top three overall male and female finishers and top age group placers. 1 Mile participants receive a finisher item.
