About the race
The Wheatsheaf 5 km charity trail run is scheduled for 11 November 2026 in Writtle, Chelmsford. It is described as a new, evening trail event that takes place on local countryside paths and finishes at a pub where participants can receive a drink on presentation of their race number. The event raises money for the Whizz Kidz charity; £2 from each entry fee is donated to that cause. A TRA permit is listed as TBC and there is a £2 levy for non TRA or UKA members.
Parking is available in the public car park opposite the village green by the duck ponds, about a five minute walk to the venue. There is a bus service from Chelmsford to Writtle and space in the beer garden for cyclists to lock bikes. The route is provided online and registrants will be emailed a GPX file a few days before the event; participants are advised to download the event narrative and GPX to navigation devices.
The course has little to no signage and is run as a self sufficient event with a tail runner; a contact number is provided in the event narrative. Compulsory equipment includes a phone with the event contact and a head torch. Organisers advise wearing reflective clothing, waterproofs if needed, and warm clothes for the beer garden. Bags may be left in the covered part of the garden at the owner’s risk.
Prices are listed as £17 until 30 Sep 2026 and £18 until 06 Nov 2026. A service fee of 4 percent applies with a minimum of 50p. Total places are 50 and the event status is open.
